Perched within the sweeping vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Anakeesta is a luxury sanctuary that reinterprets the traditional mountain lodge through a lens of Ancestral Harmony. The design is a tribute to the land’s original stewards, drawing deep inspiration from the nearby Cherokee reservation and the profound stillness of the mountains before they were inhabited.

The Narrative & Inspiration: The soul of Anakeesta lies in its connection to the Cherokee lineage. Viji sought to honor their legacy by translating the intricate geometry of traditional basket weaving and the rich textures of indigenous textiles into a contemporary interior language. The home was reimagined as a "modern hunting lodge"—a space that balances the rugged mystery of the wilderness with an atmosphere of refined solitude. Anakeesta exudes that exudes that sense of adventure of a mountain lodge and not as a trophy house, but as a sanctuary of quietude and majesty.

Design & Materiality:

• Architectural Scale: The design utilizes the home’s soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows as portals, inviting the majesty of the mountains into the living space. This sense of openness is grounded by an oversized wood-burning fireplace, creating a focal point of warmth and intimacy.

• The Artisanal Hunt: Every element was curated to tell a story of place. From the custom, artisan-made elk horn chandeliers to antiques scoured from small towns across the Blue Ridge range, the furnishings bridge the gap between historic mountain life and luxury living.

• Bespoke Textiles: All linens and soft goods were exclusively custom-designed and sourced from Alamwar for this project. These textiles echo the colors and patterns of the landscape—moss, bark, and stone—providing a tactile softness that contrasts with the home’s dramatic architectural lines.
